About the Show
Baked Butter Biscuits is a genre-bending, 30 minute episodic dark comedy series about survival and self-growth, blurring the line between realism and ridiculousness.
Our show is a reflection of the times we live in, wrapped in satire and served with heart. Think of it as our love letter to absurdity, to survival, and to the friendships which become family that hold us together when everything else falls apart.
Baked Butter Biscuits is a comedic series that carries the weight of philosophy inside humour and satire. Inspired by shows like Atlanta, Key and Peele and Insecure, the project examines race, friendship, and absurdity in spaces where Black life collides with societal expectations. Humour, to our team, is both survival and critique. It allows us to disarm audiences while slipping truth beneath the laughter. By turning ordinary encounters into extraordinary revelations, we aim to reveal the unspoken dynamics of culture, identity, and belonging.
Our goal is to establish the quality, tone, and momentum of the series so we can build support for the remaining five episodes.
This series examines how race shapes the social contract and how human bonds are able to endure, explored through these key themes:
- Survival & resistance
- Identity & culture
- Race & power dynamics
- Friendship & found family
- The absurdity of the everyday
- Social commentary
Baked Butter Biscuits appeals to both Black and non-Black viewers, aged 18-40, particularly young adults, as well as fans of social commentary, surrealism, and critically acclaimed storytelling. Viewers interested in innovative storytelling, social commentary on identity and culture and absurdist humour are likely to be drawn to this series.
